We are joined by the staggeringly compelling dancer Suzi Cunningham AND Ceylan Hay aka Bell Lungs - multi instrumentalist improviser extraordinaire. Double whammy! The tip jar will be out in force for these guys to help pay them what their profession deserves them.
Bell Lungs: dreamy-voiced misty melodies from a collector of instruments and weaver of songs.
Encompassing influences from psychedelia, jazz, noise and folk to create a nuanced sound world that draws on natural cycles, environmental disaster and the microcosmic aspects of relationships. Using instruments such as electric violin, omnichord, bouzouki, saz, harmonium, santoor, field recordings, electronics and guitar, her kaleidoscopic vocals were deemed “elemental” by cult arts critic David Keenan of The Wire, and her music “genius...or as pretty damned close to that elusive quality that you can get without having yet passed the test of time...” by Terrascope (https://www.facebook.com/bell.lungs/)
Suzi: "In performance making, I draw upon emotional and primal connections. I am interested in how the body retains layers of experience; and how movement can trigger unconscious memory to unfold stories of the human spirit and other life forms. In have significant training in Butoh Dance which delves into the archaeology of life, and reflects the emotional and physical interdependence with the world around us".
